Overview

The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) is an independent, non-government, not-for-profit educational research organisation established in 1930. Its mission is to create and promote research-based knowledge, products and services that improve learning across the lifespan. Its Melbourne head office is at 19 Prospect Hill Road, Camberwell, Victoria. ACER generates income through contracted research and development projects and through developing and distributing products and services, directing operating surplus back into research and development. Its strategic research centres cover global education monitoring, assessment reform and innovation, education policy and practice, and school and system improvement. ACER also offers flexible, research-based professional learning for education leaders, teachers, academics and other professionals. Its official professional-learning catalog includes short modular courses, an on-demand school-improvement course and a practical PAT workshop.
