Overview

Established in 1973 under an act of Federal Parliament, AFTRS is Australia's national screen and broadcast school. It delivers education, research and training intended to develop Australian storytelling talent, with diversity supported across the School's activities. Industry practitioners teach courses that combine theoretical frameworks with practical work. The Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production is a three-year full-time course with on-campus classes and workshops. The Master of Arts Screen: Business and Graduate Diploma in Radio and Podcasting each offer one year of full-time study or its part-time equivalent, with online and on-campus study options. The business master's develops leadership, entrepreneurship and finance skills through specialist teaching, research and a capstone project. Radio and podcasting students undertake practical audio production and live broadcasting, and all are offered a professional placement in their final semester. AFTRS also provides short courses and industry training.
