Overview
The College of Europe, established in Bruges in 1949, is the world's oldest postgraduate institute of European studies. Operating three campuses – in Bruges (Belgium), Natolin (Warsaw, Poland), and Tirana (Albania) – it offers seven advanced Master programmes focused on European affairs. The Bruges campus specialises in EU law, economics, political science, and international relations, hosting around 350 students from over 50 countries each year. The Natolin campus adopts an interdisciplinary approach with emphasis on Europe's future, security, and the wider global context. The Tirana campus, established in 2024, provides expertise on EU enlargement and Southeastern Europe. Approximately 70% of students receive scholarships from governments or public/private institutions. Students live and study together for ten months, fostering what the College calls 'l'esprit du Collège'. The College is funded in part by the European Union and holds Erasmus charters for both the Bruges and Natolin campuses.
