Overview
The École Internationale de Gemmologie de Monaco (EIG Monaco) is a specialist higher education institution located at 1 Avenue des Castelans, Stade Louis II, in the Principality of Monaco. It offers two officially authorised Bachelor's degrees (Level 6, 180 ECTS) under Monegasque private law, accredited by the Federation for European Education (FEDE): the Bachelor of Jewellery and Gemmology (1 or 2 years) and the Bachelor European Gemmologist Expert (10 months). Both degrees are compliant with the European Higher Education Area and are recognised by the Government of Monaco via ministerial decrees. EIG also offers professional gemmology certificate courses across 6 progressive levels, intensive two-week stages, evening and afternoon classes, and Passion Days for enthusiasts. Students have access to fully equipped gemmology laboratories with microscopes, refractometers, spectroscopes, and a collection of several thousand gemstones. Annual educational trips to international gem trade centres (Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Thailand, Hong Kong, Geneva, Tucson) are integrated into the curriculum. The school is located 20 minutes from Nice, 10 minutes from Menton, and 2 hours from Marseille via the TER railway line.
