Gomel State F. Skorina University

Gomel State F. Skorina University (ГГУ имени Ф. Скорины) is the largest public university in the Gomel region of Belarus, founded on 21 June 1930 as a pedagogical institute. On 1 May 1969 it was transformed into a full university, and on 29 November 1988 it was named after Francysk Skaryna, the Renaissance humanist and first East Slavic printer. The university employs 1,069 staff, including 460 academic faculty, 40 doctors of science, 30 professors, 190 candidates of science, and 200 associate professors. It has aspirantura across 46 specialties and doctorantura in 6 specialties, and operates 2 doctoral dissertation councils. The university has over 180 international cooperation agreements and maintains four joint Sino-Belarusian scientific laboratories. It participates in the QS EECA, Webometrics, Scimago, Times Higher Education Impact, RUR, UniRank and other international rankings. In the 2025 Webometrics ranking it placed 2nd among Belarusian universities and 3,946th globally.
