Overview
Hanken School of Economics (Swedish: Svenska handelshögskolan) is a private not-for-profit business university in Finland, founded in 1909. The university operates two campuses: the main campus at Arkadiankatu 22, Helsinki, and a second campus at Kirjastonkatu 16, Vaasa. Hanken is one of Finland's few universities where Swedish is the primary language of instruction, though many programmes are also offered in English. The institution holds triple international accreditation — EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA — achieved by roughly 1% of business schools globally. Academic departments include Finance and Economics, Management and Organisation, Marketing, Supply Chain Management and Social Responsibility, and Accounting and Commercial Law, supported by research centres such as CERS, HUMLOG and CCR. Programmes are offered at Bachelor's (180 ECTS), Master's (60 or 120 ECTS) and doctoral (4-year PhD) levels. Tuition fees apply to non-EU/EEA students in English-language programmes: EUR 12,000/year for Bachelor's and EUR 15,000/year for Master's studies (for study rights starting 1 August 2024 or later). Scholarships are available for eligible international students.
