Hellenic Open University

Hellenic Open University (Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο, ΕΑΠ) is the public open and distance learning university of Greece, established by Law 2552/1997 (ΦΕΚ 266/24-12-1997) and headquartered in Patras (Παρ. Αριστοτέλους 18, 263 35 Πάτρα). It is registered in the EQAR/DEQAR registry under identifier DEQARINST1215 and holds an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education. The university offers programmes exclusively by distance education across four Schools: the School of Humanities, the School of Applied Arts and Sustainable Design, the School of Sciences and Technology, and the School of Social Sciences. Programmes are available at undergraduate (first cycle), postgraduate (second cycle), and doctoral (third cycle) levels, including special programmes and continuing education. The university operates branches in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Komotini in addition to its main campus in Patras. EAP participates in the European Universities Alliance OpenEU since 2024 and conducts quality assurance in line with ESG standards, with programme accreditations issued by ΕΘΑΑΕ (Hellenic Authority for Higher Education) and international agencies such as CYQAA. According to the CWUR 2026 ranking, EAP is among the top 9% of universities worldwide.
