Overview
weißensee kunsthochschule berlin (Berlin-Weißensee School of Art) is a public higher education institution and body under public law of the state of Berlin (§2 BerHG), founded in 1946. It is led by President Dr. Angelika Richter and supervised by the Berlin Senate Administration for Science, Health, Care and Gender Equality. The academy offers BA and MA programmes in four design disciplines (Product Design, Fashion Design, Textile and Material Design, Visual Communication) and Diploma programmes in Fine Arts (Painting, Sculpture, Stage and Costume Design), as well as two fee-based Master's programmes: Spatial Strategies (4 semesters) and Art Therapy (6 semesters, part-time). All undergraduate programmes begin with a one-year common artistic and creative foundation course. The academy has 20 workshops and studios, multiple campus sites in the Weißensee district of Berlin, and collaborates with over 100 partner art academies worldwide. Approximately 30% of its 800+ students come from abroad. It actively participates in Erasmus+, Fulbright, DAAD and PROMOS scholarship programmes.

Free – €377 / semester
No tuition fees are charged for standard programmes (BA, MA Design, Diploma Fine Arts, MA Spatial Strategies). Students pay a Semesterbeitrag (semester contribution) of 376.80 EUR per semester, which includes the Deutschlandsemesterticket for public transport. The postgraduate MA Art Therapy programme charges course fees: 5,640 EUR in year 1 (470 EUR/month) and 5,880 EUR/year in years 2 and 3 (490 EUR/month), plus 147 EUR/semester in administrative fees.
