Overview
Liverpool Hope University is a private not-for-profit university in Liverpool, United Kingdom, founded in 1844. The only ecumenical university in Europe, it has over 7,000 students across two main campuses: Hope Park in a leafy suburb of Liverpool and the Creative Campus in Liverpool city centre. Both campuses have seen major recent investment. The University's distinctive philosophy is to 'educate in the round' — mind, body and spirit — in the quest for Truth, Beauty and Goodness. Liverpool Hope achieved university status in 2005 and research degree awarding powers in 2009, establishing itself as a 'teaching led, research informed' institution. It works closely with faith partners locally, nationally and internationally, and its research activities span humanities, sciences, social sciences, education, liberal arts, business and computer science. The University submitted to 12 Units of Assessment in REF 2014, with 54% of eligible academic staff returned. It offers undergraduate single and combined honours degrees, a wide range of postgraduate taught degrees (MA, MSc, PGCerts, PGCE, Professional Doctorates), and postgraduate research degrees (MPhil, PhD, Professional Doctorate).
