Overview
London Film School (LFS) is the UK's oldest dedicated film school, founded in 1956 as the London School of Film Technique. Originally based in Brixton, it relocated to Covent Garden and became the London International Film School before returning to the London Film School name in the 2000s. Based in two fully equipped buildings in the heart of London, LFS trains over 300 full-time students from more than 50 countries annually through five MA degree programmes: MA Filmmaking (2 years), MA Screenwriting (1 year), MA Film Producing (1 year), MA Film Marketing (1 year), and MA International Film Business (1 year, in partnership with the University of Exeter). All teaching and assessment are conducted in English using a conservatoire model — learning by doing, making over ten films during the MA Filmmaking programme. LFS holds World-Leading Specialist Provider status from the Office for Students and is a registered not-for-profit charity (Charity No: 270302). Its alumni include Michael Mann, Mike Leigh, Ann Hui, Duncan Jones, and many others shaping the global film industry.
