Overview
London Film School (LFS) is the UK's oldest dedicated film school, founded in 1956 as the London School of Film Technique in Brixton, later relocating to Covent Garden. Operating as a registered not-for-profit charity (Charity No. 270302), LFS holds World-Leading Specialist Provider status from the Office for Students and is consistently recognised by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the world's top film schools.
LFS operates on a conservatoire model: students learn by doing, making over ten films during the MA Filmmaking programme in an industry-immersive structure of collaboration and production deadlines. The school is based across two newly equipped buildings in central London, with access to two cinemas, four sound stages, multiple edit suites, and full sound facilities.
The school offers five MA programmes: MA Filmmaking (2 years, validated by University of Warwick), MA Screenwriting (1 year, University of Warwick), MA Film Marketing (1 year, University of Warwick), MA Film Producing (1 year, University of Warwick), and MA International Film Business (1 year, University of Exeter). Over 300 full-time students from more than 50 countries attend each year. Notable alumni include Mike Leigh, Michael Mann, Duncan Jones, Ann Hui, and Tak Fujimoto.
