Overview
Medway School of Pharmacy is a specialist higher education institution established in 2004 as a unique collaboration between the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent. Located on the shared Medway university campus at Chatham Maritime, Kent, the School is recognised as an established school of pharmacy by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Its undergraduate offering centres on a four-year full-time MPharm programme (and a five-year variant with preparatory year), preparing graduates for registration as pharmacists. Postgraduate taught programmes include the MSc/PGDip/PGCert in General Pharmacy Practice (for foundation-stage pharmacists), the MSc/PGDip/PGCert in Medicines Optimisation (delivered by distance learning), and the PGCert in Independent/Supplementary Prescribing (accredited by GPhC, NMC, and HCPC). PhD research programmes are offered across pharmacy, biochemistry, chemistry and drug delivery, health services research, and pharmacology and physiology. The School also offers a wide range of continuing professional development short courses. Research at the School is internationally recognised, with groups in chemistry and drug delivery, biological sciences, and health services research. Students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities including industry-standard laboratories and clinical skills labs, and have access to resources at both the University of Kent and University of Greenwich.
