National Film and Television School

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is an independent postgraduate specialist institution founded in 1971, located at Beaconsfield Studios, Station Road, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, HP9 1LG. It provides practical, specialist behind-the-camera training to over 700 students a year in film, television and games. Operating like a major studio, the NFTS offers MFA (2-year) and MA (1-year) degree programmes, diplomas, certificates and a wide range of short courses and bite-sized sessions. The school has additional bases in Leeds (NFTS North), Glasgow (NFTS Scotland), Cardiff (NFTS Cymru Wales) and London. It is registered with the Office for Students and adheres to the UK Quality Code for Higher Education. The school has a graduate employment rate of over 90% and its alumni have won Oscars, BAFTAs and Emmys. In 2018 the school received a BAFTA for Outstanding Contribution to British Cinema and the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. It awards more scholarships and bursaries to British students, relative to student body size, than almost any other UK educational institution, with close to £2 million given out annually. Nearly all Master's courses are delivered in person at Beaconsfield, with some programmes also available at regional UK campuses.
