Overview

Founded in 1930, National Research University 'Moscow Power Engineering Institute' (MPEI) is a premier federal technical university in Russia. The university educates over 24,000 students, supported by more than 2,200 teachers and scientists, and has produced over 200,000 graduates who have contributed to the development of the energy sector and engineering worldwide. MPEI holds National Research University status and operates as a federal state budgetary educational institution under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The university's infrastructure includes its own training thermal power plant and a uranium-water subcritical assembly for nuclear research. MPEI offers Bachelor's, Master's, Specialist, and PhD programs across fields including power engineering, electrical engineering, radio electronics, information technologies, computer science, nuclear power engineering, and mechanical engineering. MPEI actively develops international cooperation through joint programs with universities in China, Vietnam, and Kazakhstan, and through branches in Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The university participates in network universities (BRICS, SCO, EAEU, CIS, RAFU) and hosts international academic mobility programs. On May 1, 2025, MPEI was awarded the Order 'For Outstanding Achievements in Labour' by President Vladimir Putin.
