New Design University

The New Design University (NDU) is an accredited, state-recognised non-profit private university (Privatuniversität) located at Mariazeller Straße 97a, 3100 St. Pölten, Lower Austria, Austria. Founded in 2004 by the Wirtschaftskammer Niederösterreich (WKO NÖ) and WIFI NÖ, the NDU is a research university that offers innovative degree programmes across two faculties: the Faculty of Design (Gestaltung) and the Faculty of Innovation & Management. Bachelor programmes include Graphic & Information Design, Interior Architecture & 3D Design, Design, Craft & Material Culture, BSc Business Administration (Management by Design), and BEng Event Engineering. Master programmes include MA Interior Architecture & Visual Communication and MSc Business Administration (Management by Innovation). A doctoral programme (Value Through Design) and several continuing education university courses (Universitätslehrgänge) in areas such as Acoustic Design, Book Design, Food Design, Light Design, Product Design, Advertising Copy, and Design Thinking & Innovation are also offered. With approximately 600 students, the NDU is known for small group sizes, close mentoring, project-based learning, and strong industry partnerships. It is accredited by AQ Austria and participates in the Erasmus+ exchange programme. Being a non-profit organisation, the NDU does not receive state subsidies; its base funding is provided by WKO NÖ, with the remainder financed through tuition fees set on a cost-covering, non-profit basis.
