Overview
Open Universities Australia (OUA) was founded in 1993 as Open Learning Australia and adopted its current name in 2004. It is a not-for-profit platform connecting learners with online higher education from Australian partner universities, rather than the teaching university for those courses. Its catalogue includes short courses, standalone subjects and undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. Student advisors help learners choose courses and navigate enrolment at no charge for OUA's services. Selected undergraduate degrees offer entry pathways through successful completion of two to four specified subjects, without requiring an ATAR to begin the pathway. Students complete coursework through their chosen university's learning management system, while OUA supports enrolment administration and access to results through its Student Hub. Study-load flexibility and available start dates depend on the selected course and university.

Tuition is set by the teaching university and charged subject by subject; OUA does not charge for its advisory services. Fees depend on citizenship, residency, study load, study level and enrolment type. The supplied fees page contains a table headed 2026 maximum student contribution amounts, although its introduction refers to 2025. Its figures are indicative CSP contributions for selected disciplines, not a complete domestic tuition range. International fees vary by university and subject; no complete international range is published in the supplied material. SSAF, incidental costs and textbooks may be additional. Eligible students may access HELP loans; upfront credit-card payment is also described.
Tuition varies by program. Confirm with the university before applying.
