Overview
The Royal Veterinary College (RVC), founded in 1791, is the largest and longest-established veterinary school in the English-speaking world and a specialist college of the University of London. With a dedicated workforce of around 1,100 employees across two campuses — Camden in central London and Hawkshead in rural Hertfordshire — the RVC is a world leader in veterinary education, research and clinical practice. The college offers undergraduate programmes in veterinary medicine (BVetMed), veterinary nursing, and biological sciences, as well as a wide range of postgraduate taught and research degrees, clinical training internships and residencies, and continuing professional development (CPD) programmes. RVC's three teaching hospitals (the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital, and the Equine Referral Hospital) collectively see more than 32,000 animals per year. Research is central to the college's mission, with approximately 180 research papers published annually. The RVC has retained the top position in the QS World University Subject Rankings for Veterinary Science in 2026.
