Overview
RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau is a public research university in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, and the state's sole technology and natural sciences university. Founded in 1970 and operating in its current form since January 2023 following a merger, RPTU operates two campuses in Kaiserslautern and Landau. The university offers over 160 programs across 16 departments spanning engineering, natural sciences, computer science, mathematics, social sciences, economics, humanities, and teacher education. It also offers distance learning programs through the DISC center. RPTU works closely with research institutions including the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems.

No tuition fees are charged at this public German university. Students pay a semester fee (Semesterbeitrag): Kaiserslautern campus WS 2026/27: 381.80 EUR/semester (includes Studierendenwerk 135 EUR, student union 20 EUR, Deutschland-Ticket 226.80 EUR); Landau campus: 162.50 EUR/semester (Studierendenwerk 140 EUR, student union 22.50 EUR). Distance learning students: 155 EUR/semester.
