Overview
The American College of Greece (ACG), known as Deree at the undergraduate and graduate level, was founded in 1875 in Smyrna, Asia Minor, by women missionaries from Massachusetts, USA. Following the Asia Minor Catastrophe, the institution relocated to Athens, Greece, in 1922–1923. Today it is the oldest and largest U.S.-accredited, comprehensive educational institution in Europe and the largest private college in Greece.
ACG is an independent, not-for-profit, nonsectarian, co-educational academic institution located on a 64-acre campus in the Aghia Paraskevi suburb of Athens. Its undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) in the United States and validated by The Open University (UK), granting students dual US/UK degree recognition.
The institution comprises three schools: the School of Business and Economics, the School of Science and Technology, and the Frances Rich School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. It offers 35+ undergraduate programs, 6 cooperative programs with Clarkson University, 65+ minors, and 8 graduate programs. Graduate programs include master's degrees in communication, psychology, education, and data science/cybersecurity. Online graduate programs are also available.
ACG's campus served as the official high-performance training center of the United States Olympic Committee during the 2004 Athens Olympics. Its athletic facilities include an Olympic-sized pool, 6-lane track, soccer field, tennis courts, and multiple indoor sports courts.
The college hosts over 50 student clubs and academic societies, an active student life program, and international internship and study abroad opportunities. Students come from over 86 countries. Financial assistance is available to 99.4% of applicants. The institution also operates the ALBA Graduate Business School (downtown campus) through a strategic alliance.
