Università degli Studi di Cagliari (UniCa) is a public research university founded on 31 October 1620 by King Philip III of Spain, making it one of the oldest universities in Italy. Located at Via Università 40 in Cagliari, the capital city of Sardinia, the university serves as the principal higher education institution of the island. UniCa is organised into 6 faculties and 15 departments covering medicine and surgery, biology and pharmacy, engineering and architecture, sciences, economic and legal and political sciences, and humanities. The university offers Bachelor's degrees (Laurea Triennale), combined Bachelor's/Master's degrees (Laurea Magistrale a Ciclo Unico), Master's degrees (Laurea Magistrale), postgraduate specialisation schools, PhD programs, and university masters. With over 24,750 enrolled students, UniCa is a full research university active in international collaborations through the Erasmus+ programme and extra-European mobility initiatives. It is a member of the European Digital UniverCity alliance and holds an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
