The University of Amsterdam (UvA), founded in 1632, is one of Europe's leading public research universities. Its four campuses are spread across Amsterdam's city centre, hosting over 40,000 students, 6,000 staff and nearly 3,000 PhD researchers. The UvA has seven faculties: Humanities, Law, Medicine, Science, Social and Behavioural Sciences, Economics and Business, and Dentistry (ACTA).
