Overview

The University of Buckingham is an independent, not-for-profit university founded in 1976 in Buckingham, England. It is the only independent university in the UK with a Royal Charter and one of the UK's smallest universities, with approximately 3,700 students from over 100 nationalities. Buckingham pioneered the two-year accelerated honours degree, offering the same qualification as a traditional three-year degree but in a shorter timeframe, saving students tuition fees and living costs. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate (taught and research), foundation and professional programmes across disciplines including accounting and finance, business, computing, criminology, economics, education, English literature, history, international studies, law, medicine and health, military history, politics, psychology and security and intelligence. The university has a riverside campus in the heart of Buckingham, with four accommodation sites (Hunter Street, Moreton Road, Mount Pleasant and Verney Park). Teaching follows an Oxbridge-style approach with small group tutorials and seminars. With over 26,000 alumni in 185 countries, the university maintains strong industry links and a global alumni community.
