University of SS. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (UCM; Slovak: Univerzita sv. Cyrila a Metoda v Trnave) is a public university established in 1997 by Act No. 201/1997 of the National Council of the Slovak Republic. Its legal form is a public-law institution (verejnoprávna inštitúcia), with IČO (organisation number) 36078913. UCM is located in Trnava, a historic city in western Slovakia, approximately 30 minutes by train from Bratislava. The university comprises five faculties – the Faculty of Mass Media Communication (FMK), Faculty of Natural Sciences (FPV), Faculty of Arts (FF), Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV), Faculty of Health Sciences (FZV) – and the Institute of Management (IM). It offers over 144 accredited study programmes at bachelor, master, and doctoral levels covering fields including media and communication studies, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, environmental sciences, economics and management, philology, philosophy, history, informatics, political science, psychology, social work, teacher training, and health sciences. The Faculty of Health Sciences is based at a separate campus in Piešťany. UCM operates its own Doctoral Academy and Science and Creative Park supporting research activities. The university publishes 12 scientific journals, participates in Erasmus+ and other international programmes, and has a EURAXESS Centre supporting researcher mobility. Student life is supported by a dormitory (196 places), multiple dining facilities, a gymnasium, creative and media studios, and numerous student organisations including a folklore ensemble, amateur theatre, student radio (107.2 FM), student television, student magazines, an e-sports team, and an annual film festival.
